First, you need to go to www.bloglines.com.

• Right in the middle of the page, you will see “Sign up now It’s Free.” Click on this. You will be taken to a page where you can enter your email address, your password, and register.
• After you click on the “Register” button, you should see a screen that gives you this message: “You are registered with Bloglines. Soon you will receive a confirmation email. Reply to that and you will be fully registered.” Then, you should compulsively check your email until you receive a message from Bloglines.

Validating your Account

• When you receive the Bloglines Validation email, there will be a link provided for you to click on. That link should take you to a page where you can choose pre-selected blogs, newspapers, cartoons, and other websites from a list. You can browse the choices and check the ones you want. When you are finished choosing, or if you don’t want any of the pre-selected choices, click on the “subscribe” button.

Setting up your Feeds

• If you checked some of the boxes, those feeds will immediately appear on the left hand side of the screen. You can “Edit” these feeds, so if you checked a box that you didn’t want, you can delete your subscription to it. After you click the “Edit” button, you will click on the feed you want to delete and then click on the trashcan icon.

• You can click on the “Add” button and enter the url addresses for both (librarystaffroom.blogspot.com and librarystaffroom.pbwiki.com). Once you’ve entered an address, you will need to choose which feed you want. For our Blog and Wiki, you can check either box they offer. If you sign up for other Blogs, or websites, you should check a box that ends with “atom” or “rss”.

• The other way to sign up for feeds is to create a Bookmarklet on your computer. I would use this method if you want to use your Bloglines account to check more than just our Blog and our Wiki. On the left side of the screen below your feeds, there are several “Extras”. One of the buttons reads “Easy Subscribe Bookmarklet.” Click it.

• The next screen will offer different ways to download the Bookmarklet. You will want to choose the one under “Internet Explorer Users.” Follow the instructions they give you. Then, while you are surfing the web, if you find a website that you want to add to your Bloglines, all you need to do is: visit that website; click on “Favorites”; click the “Sub with Bloglines” option and choose which version of the website you want on your Bloglines account.

• Once you have our Blog and our Wiki on your Bloglines account, you will only need to remember to go to Bloglines.com to check both websites. Hope this helps and let me know if there are problems!
